After a couple of months that objectively were pretty slow and home-bound, even if they didn't feel at all that way at the time, I'm back to my travelling ways again. Last weekend was spent camping at the Pinery (in the rain, woe), this week will be mostly taken up with another trip to the Boston area. I'm less determined to do the tourist thing this time around, since I did quite a bit of that on my last visit, but I am dearly hoping to make it out for St. Patrick's Day festivities tomorrow.

For the most part, though, I'm hoping to use my near-week of business hotel isolation to power through both some work projects and some personal writing. I've also packed not one but four books of various genres to keep myself entertained. Truly, business travel is an introvert's paradise. Except for the part where one of the more major goals for the trip is for me to socialise and ingratiate myself with the team I'm being sent to work with, I suppose. But details, details.

I do love grandpas telling inappropriate stories. And Edward Gorey book covers.

A certain talented lady has been very busy and soon, soon, ponies. Which probably calls for more comics with the fat little guy.

There are some funny things, in the Life Of Nero. Pretty well all accounts of how Nero went about murdering his mother are hilarious in their own right - collapsible boat, anyone? - and the notion that he thought her ghost was after him is also good (as you can see by the comic). Nero's neck beard is perhaps imperial action on a weak chin in the same way George IV''s high collars were an action on double chins.

I feel you have to take early Roman historians with a grain of salt but nevertheless, please enjoy this account of Nero by Suetonius, where on no uncertain terms Nero is described as stinky, with a pot belly and a mullet, and generally gross in person.
